Dialogue Academy 01: Déjà Vu
Dialogue Gallery, Lisbon | April–May 2024
Déjà Vu was the inaugural exhibition of Dialogue Academy, developed in collaboration with Dialogue Gallery, AiR 351 and Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
Bringing together ten emerging artists, the exhibition explored memory, repetition and temporal dislocation through a diverse selection of contemporary artistic practices.
Situated within the gallery's chapel-like architecture, the exhibition responded to the spatial qualities of the building, using arches, thresholds and intimate rooms to establish relationships between artworks. The arrangement encouraged moments of recurrence, interruption and unexpected visual dialogue.
Collaboration was central to the curatorial process, with decisions developed through ongoing conversations between curators, artists and participating institutions. Rather than presenting a singular curatorial perspective, Déjà Vu approached exhibition-making as a collective process of exchange and experimentation.
Co-curated by Nathan Yeomans, Sonia Taborda and Aron Fehn
